KEEP UP ON ACCELERATED MATH PRACTICES

I WILL CHECK FOR 3-7 Outlines the day of the Quiz -- I will also check for the 3-4, 3-5 and 3-7 worksheets at that time.

Nutrition Project - PART 2

For this portion of the project you need to research a healthy diet and then analyze your diet based on the information you have found.  I am including the powerpoint with the example portion.  Your food journal, along with the diet analysis is due on Monday, November19 for A Day and Tuesday, November 20 for B Day.

Nutrition Project - "What Makes A Healthy Diet?"

The following websites will help you to look up the nutrition information for the various foods you have recorded.

Fill out the food journal with all the information required.

** I recommend doing this alphabetically so that it is easy to look up an item later **

Once you have found all of the nutrition facts you will need to adjust them to match your calorie intake.  You will do this the same way you adjusted the information on the worksheet.

Make sure you write down all of the nutrition information first so you can do the calculations at home if you do not finish in class.  This assignment is due at the start of the next class period.

If you would like to make your journal electronically (on powerpoint) you can click this link to open the file.  (You will have to add more slides to include all of your 50+ foods but I am confident you can figure that out :) ).  Then make sure you save it and email it to yourself and or your teacher.  It would also be a good idea to save it on a flash drive.

Also, while you are in class you need to research the country you chose and determine what the typical diet of a teenager in that country is.

You can also use a search engine such as http://www.google.com or http://www.goodsearch.com and search "nutrition facts" or "nutrition information"

When searching for information on your country:

go to http://www.google.com/ or http://www.goodsearch.com/ or the search engine of your choice, then search "your country eating habits"  or "your country diets" or other searches you can come up with.  Then you will have to filter out the bad materials.   You can also go to http://www.mel.org/ and search the Michigan Public Library for encyclopedias and other references.

Record your information on the teenager in another country on this sheet, make sure to mark down your references.  Fill out the sheet electronically and email it to sfornero@flintschools.org  if you have Ms. Fornero or to sblakley@flintschools.org if you have Mrs. Blakley.  MAKE SURE YOUR NAME IS ON THE SHEET! Put "My Country Info" in the title line.  Save the finished sheet to your network drive.

If you misplace your journal, the link below will take you to the template I used so that you can create your own.
